Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a condition that causes bones to become thinner and more fragile and is most common in women. In our late 20’s we have peak bone mineral density and then it starts to decline. From 45-55, bone breakdown occurs at a faster pace in women due to the effects of the menopause and the reduction of oestrogen. Women may lose 10-30% of their bone density over a 5-year period of the menopause.

As you might’ve guessed I LOVE Pilates. Even when I’m on holiday I’m thinking about it. It is definitely my passion, hence the fact that I’m running my own business teaching it to others and helping them to defy the ageing process. Joseph Pilates himself said: "In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 sessions you will see the difference, and in 30 you will have a whole new body."

Have you noticed how every time an animal gets up from a nap, they ALWAYS take time to stretch. What do we do when we get out of bed in the mornings, or after a stint on the sofa, or being sat in front of the computer all day? I am guessing if you are anything like me, not a lot! We move from one task to another and don’t think how taking a few moments to stretch or move our bodies differently could help release any tension we may be feeling.
